For me, I don't think I could really pick one movie that I could watch again, and again, and again. If I could, it would probably be one of the Pixar movies as they have three criteria that would suit me:
As wonderful as these movies are, if I were to pick one of these, it would probably be Toy Story. However, if it is something that I would never get tired of watching, I don't think it would actually be a movie. Instead, it would be a cartoon series.
Can you guess which cartoon is my favourite ever? The one that I can quote back to front? The one that I will watch every time I am sick or have insomnia? Here's a hint, this particular cartoon series was created by Matt Groening.
What's funny about Futurama, besides absolutely everything, is the fact that when it first aired back in 1999, I didn't give in much credence. I initially thought it was a pale comparison to The Simpsons, which were my favourite television show at the time. I watched the first couple episodes, and was quite underwhelmed, so I abandoned it for the next year or so. Then, one day, while listening to a podcast (I can't remember which podcast it was), I heard a discussion about how Futurama had really come into their own, and while not the same as The Simpsons, it was something that was worthy of Matt Groening. So I gave it another chance. I haven't looked back since.
But I wasn't the only one who didn't give Futurama a fair shake either. Fox, the channel who owned the licensing rights to it, gave it a four year run, and then decided to pull the plug back in 2003. Technically, they didn't cancel it, they just stopped buying episodes. Which is weird, as it's kind of like going out with a guy/girl and then you just stop calling; a point that the producer David X Cohen actually made. So then, Comedy Central bought the syndication rights, which basically meant that Comedy Central got to air the re-runs. And it is during these re-runs that Futurama got a resurgence of popularity.
During this resurgence, Comedy Central commissioned four straight to DVD movies to be produced, which were then split into 16 separate episodes after their initial airings, and were then distributed as the fifth season. As so eloquently stated by Bender:
The DVDs flew off the shelves, and due to their popularity, Comedy Central bought 26 new episodes to the series! Good News Everyone! Futurama will continue for at least two more seasons!
Alas, all good things must come to an end, and in 2013, the final episode of Futurama aired and Planet Express is no longer. *sigh* ...or is it?
This year, The Simpsons are airing a Simpsons/Futurama crossover episode! Although I have basically stopped watching The Simpson (after 22+ years, it just doesn't hold the same interest for me), I will be watching this episode.
Well, that is all fine and dandy, but I haven't explained what Futurama is all about! Well, rather than me spoil it for you, go out and rent the DVDs, or rent/buy from iTunes/Amazon/Google Play or whatever, and experience the goodness for yourself. I can attest that it will help during various bouts of illness and sleepless nights!
So, what is your favourite movie or television show? Something you'd be able to watch again and again?
- They're funny as heck
- They tell absolutely remarkable stories
- They're cartoons...hello!

Is it the Simpson's? You ask?No, actually it isn't The Simpsons, although they would come a close second. No, my absolute favourite cartoon, that I could watch time and time again, is actually Futurama (but you probably already got that from the image I attached to the blog).
